about

While Diana and I iron out the kinks and wrinkles of our next release, Dragon, I wanted to put something else out. Since 2014 I’ve been constantly writing new music and we’ve found ourselves going in multiple directions. The songs on A Deeper, Darker Alley are the songs that didn’t fit any of our other releases in that time. The title of the record was initially going to be one used for Swimmingpool The Band (our old project), which I half way released and later scrapped. For anyone paying attention, you’ll probably recognize maybe five or six songs that I released here in 2014.
For those of you who particularly like our ambient pieces you’ll probably enjoy a large chunk of this release. While we never stopped writing drone/ambient, I felt like a lot of those pieces didn’t fit Hologram or Dragon. Those songs can be found here along side sloppy rock tracks and a few of the discarded soundtrack pieces (meant for the Ferox albums).
While I realize we’ve never written incredibly clean or super tight music, I find the tracks on ADDA to be comparably messy but I think that’s what gives it its charm. Were this a professional enterprise I would’ve looked up the original files (they’re on some external harddrive/flashdrive somewhere) and cleaned them up. We’re obviously not pros, so the quality in audio and the competency of songs ranges from finished (’My Grave’ and ‘So Scared’ are totally done, and was meant to be part of Dragon. I’ve since removed them from that as I don’t think they fit but I still like how they came out) to very messy (’Hush’, ‘Tonite’ and ‘No Adventure’ are all rough around the edges in a lot of ways, but I like where they ended up).
Anyway, like always, it’s a free album and it’s huge. I realize it’s probably somewhat overwhelming but I wanted to put these songs out and I figured now would be an appropriate time to do that.
So give it a download if you want to. It’s free, as always, and I hope you get a kick out of it. In addition to Dragon I’m also working on reorganizing albums from our Swimmingpool the Band time to be re-released under the name Mall Ghosts. There’s a lot of it so I don’t know where to start. I’ll keep you posted on that.
As always, please follow Mall Ghosts’ cellist/co-vocalist Diana here and elsewhere as she’s a far more talented artist than I’ll ever be and a constant source of support with the music. She has a show (not music, but a gallery opening I think. I don’t know how to phrase it as I’ve never pursued any visual art) in Jersey which, if you’re in the area, you should see.
